Our Christmas Tree Tradition

For Christmas, instead of buying in to the mainstream idea of cutting down a ton of trees just to be burned later once we use them to decorate and put presents under.  My husband Andrew and I decided that we were going to start a new tradition for our family.  We are in our first year of marriage where traditions begin!  We went to a local nursery and  bought a redwood tree to use as our Christmas tree and decided that after Christmas we would plant it at Andrew’s mother’s house (since we are renting right now).  Our goal is that every year we will have a tree planted to represent that year of marriage for us.  By the time we have teenagers we should have a pretty awesome tree row of Christmases past.

Pro: We are doing our small part in helping the environment, one Christmas at a time.

Con:  Every one who came over during Christmas laughed and called our tree the Charlie Brown Tree.

Here are some photos of  the tree we planted after it gave us so many memories as our wonderful Christmas tree!
